Zero bookings or inquiries for over a month

My listing was pretty popular for a couple of months. I had a few inquiries and a booking. It felt like there was a lot of interest in the property. A bit over a month ago it all stopped. I’ve had zero bookings and inquiries since mid-July. I’ve been wondering what happened? What could be causing this radio silence?

In the beginning your new listing receives a lot of attention as with any profile listing on any platform ( peerspace, dating websites). If I get a lot of inquiries, then it moves up in hits for a search. There’s times I get zero inquiries for months then a rash of inquiries. The best bet is to promote your listing to stir up the algorithm. Too bad Peerspace doesn’t have a refined search option as my listing is usually found by mistake or someone combing the listings extensively.

You get a boost during the first few weeks of a new listing, then you drop to a more accurate rank based on the algorithm. You’ll need to become more popular to rank higher

FOR EXAMPLE: our conference room is always at the top of searches near us because it has hundreds of reviews and gets booked 5-10 times a month, our photo studio is usually about half-way down the page because there are a few more popular places to shoot near us.

Thank you very much! This helps to explain the silence.

Thank you, but how can I become more popular?

Hello Jane,
This happened to me once and I called Peerspace. I learned that my listing was “on hold” because I had not done a review of a guest. The terrible thing is that I had no idea that not doing a review would essentially block my listing! I’ve suggested to Peerspace that when one of several blocking events happens that they let you know. But this is not the case. You may want to call and see if there’s a block on your account that could be your fault.

Hi @Dymond_C. There may be some confusion here. Peerspace never pauses a listing because a review has not been completed. If you have pending reviews to leave, you may need to do so before accepting another booking, but all other functionality including the live status of your listings remain.

Hi @Jane_F , check out our support center and blog when you get a chance. We have some useful content that can help you become more successful on the platform. Here is one regarding what goes into earning the best possible visibility in the marketplace. Ultimately, your visibility will be measured against the performance of other hosts/listings as well your attention to these factors.

Thank you, Dymond! I don’t believe my listing is blocked. I can find it in the search. I don’t have anything pending, my only review is successfully posted and I got a good review as well.

Thank you, Matthew. I used to get a lot of inquiries and then, suddenly, there is nothing. Maybe it’s the time of the year. Or maybe I’ve done something wrong without realizing that. I still don’t see what caused that zero interest in my property. I am usually responding fast. I got a good review.

Hi Jane,
For us here in Chicago city area, there were countless small business that closed during Covid and never reopened, so the landlords of those locations, paint, put a few chairs n table in the empty retail, bar, office, etc empty commercial units and call it an Event space. The pricing undercuts most serious event spaces that have been listed for years and the map on the website is full blue now in and around all of Chicago proper. Our listing has slowed down this summer as a result, but its pretty much, you get what you pay for when you book, so some renters settle for an empty box unit I guess. Best of Luck. Scott

If you’re doing photo/film productions, you can expect a dip in business in August. Happens to me every year, but I already have several holds on dates in Sept and a booking in Oct.

Be patient.

Thank you! That is great to know. I am new to this. I have nothing scheduled for the fall yet, but hoping things will get more active soon.

Jane are you booking for events or production? I too have “seasons” where work comes in and then stops. I do mostly productions. My friend who does talent for work like this told me it depends on the quarters of the year, how the budget money comes in. Also, update your calendar…I think that helps bump you to a more active listing…

Hello Team,

I have had my space active on peerspace for over a month now and not a single booking yet. I had 2 inquires when I first posted but nothing since then. Can anyone shed some insight on how to land some inquires and bookings? I’m in a great location in Atlanta and I believe I should have a lot more interest coming in. Any help would be great. Thanks

I want to add to the discussion that new enquiries for my photography studio listing (in northern NJ), also suddenly dropped off to zero a few months ago.

I’ve had my listing for 6+ years now (if I remember correctly), so it isn’t a case of a new listing getting more enquiries and then leveling out.

Also notable – I rented a studio in Manhattan last week, and when I searched for studios, the top listings that came up in the search were all in Brooklyn. This is skewed. If I ask for Manhattan, then Manhattan listings need to be at the top. So there is a problem with Peerspace’s search function.

Yup, you basically have to look on a map to find a place. The search feature isn’t good, we’ve been saying that for years.
