Power host, does it add real value?

Hi my name is Donnie I have been on Peerspace for almost 2 months now and come April 1st I know there is a power host review, and I will get it. My questions for hosts who have the powerhouse badge is did you notice more bookings after you received it? I use to be an Airbnb host and it was a noticeable change on their platform. Of course I’ve heard that powerhosts average 5x more bookings than regular hosts, but I would like to hear from more the community about it.

From my experience it’s absolutely useless. I lost it once since I didn’t have enough bookings. So obviously it didn’t help me. Then I got it back–meaning not having it didn’t hurt. I have seen hosts lament the fact they lost the Powerhouse status from one thing or another. But I really don’t believe it’s of any use. People book because they like your pics which could work for their project and because your price is within reason.

As someone who uses both a hosting account AND a booking account, I’ve never noticed the Power Host banner on any of the listings I’ve considered or booked, it’s not highlighted in the search screens, and doesn’t have an option to filter for Power Hosts when searching. As a host, my space is primarily booked on Airbnb so I haven’t made Power Host yet. My experience as a guest doesn’t really motivate me to push for it.

Hey @Donnie_G! I am not sure about a measurable difference (and I say this as a fellow Airbnb Superhost), but I do know when I book Airbnb I always filter my hosts to only stay with Superhosts. I’d do the same on Peerspace as I hear nightmare host stories all the time.

The biggest difference I’ve seen is for ensuring my response rate is 100% and my response time is within an hour. Our clients’ time is valuable and the biggest boost in booking conversion I’ve been is simply being super responsive to inquiries and sending back a booking request so they can click accept to book immediately.

Welcome to the host forum @Donnie_G! My name is Zoë and I am CX Lead here at Peerspace. This is a great topic to start a discussion about. I would love to hear from more hosts about their experience as a power host. Hosts’ feedback will help drive our 2021 goals for the program.
At its core, PH program is set up to:

  • Reward hosts who provide the most consistently delightful experience to guests. This means they are regularly booked, they are responsive to inquiries (even ones they may not be able to accept), they receive positive reviews, and they do not create unexcused cancellations for guests.
  • Power Hosts are meant to be in an elite class in Peerspace. Typically only 5-10% of hosts earn this status. As such, they are able to consistently attract more guest inquiries and bookings. Guests regularly tell us that power host designation is a major criteria (alongside aesthetic, amenities, budget, etc.) when they decide which space to book.
  • Today, PH receive a listing medal designation (which guests know to look for), and priority support access including SMS support.
  • We are looking to do more with the Power Host program in 2021. Both in the benefits the designation provides and features that make it easier for guests to find them (like adding a filter tool to show only Power Hosts in their search). We hope to announce changes at the appropriate time in the future.
