I often read that hosts are very concerned when they lose their power host status. It is my theory, however, that being a power host does not really mean much in terms of rental success. But then again, it’s just my theory. I could be wrong. Therefore, I would very much appreciate it if you would join in taking a survey amongst guests and ask them whether your being a power host or not makes a difference in their decision to rent from you. I intend to ask my guests, past and future and would love you to do the same. Let us know the results.
Just surveyed around 20 of past guests. 4 out of 5 said it makes no difference. One explained "
Makes no difference. Now, I’m also not a producer or managing frequent production. But as a brand manager looking for spaces to shoot smaller scale one-off shoots, the most important factors are aesthetics (which you have in spades) and availability. Hope all is well!"
The fifth said it does make a difference, but didn’t explain why.
Hoping to hear from more of you.
I don’t have time to do the polling, but my gut says that for photo/film productions, producers/directors do not care. You could be the worst host, but have that wall, window, floor, back yard, roof top, whatever that they need for their shoot and they’ll book it. Good producers are use to dealing with nervous home owners, sketchy location managers, angry business owners, strangers on the street, the police, etc. They do not care if you have a little badge on your listing.
Perhaps people booking events might care, but I generally feel that they’re shopping by price. PH status, might sway them between 2 spaces that appear and are priced equally.
You are right Geoffrey. Confirmed. As I suspected: It really makes no difference to all but one. So . . . a note to other hosts: if for some reason beyond your control you lose your power host status, do not worry yourself.
I must say, former guests were very nice in responding. I really appreciated it.
I was under the impression that a Power Host rating bosted your results in the search and that what really matters for bookings. I could be totally wrong about that but that’s what I thought.
I don’t believe it has any effect on your ranking. However, a more detailed search engine on the part of Peerspace would help with that so that when people are looking for whatever it is your are offering they can find you quickly.
I believe it does affect where you’re shown in the Peerspace search… All I know is that business increased after achieving powerhost status.
