If so…how much do you charge? And do you include this in the price to book or do you charge it separately?
Depends on the size and scope of the shoot. Definitely charge for site rep with large shoots.
Do you have a “go-to” person as your site rep? Where did you find them?
Site rep for our space is very specific with rules in terms of the space specifically and rules regarding the building and location. If a site rep is booked at our space we do charge separately per hour and the site rep must know all the rules and have great communication skills. Hope that helps.
I do not provide this, but would if it was a huge shoot!
I’ve handled shoots up to 25 people, both cast and crew. I’m typically the onsite rep. And If I’m away, I’ll have a friend or family member stand in for me. But I prefer to leave the guests to their own devices after checking them in. I come and go as I please. Always there to check them out and do a thorough walkthrough.
And in answer to your second question, I would add this option as an extra charge only for excessively large shoots that are outside my comfortability parameters.
I normally check in and out and leave them to their own…but on a couple of occassions that has been a bad call since those are the times things got broken. Still if I had to be there I would absolutely have to charge otherwise what’s the point?
In our locations, we always provide a team member on-site for every booking. It feels safer for everyone involved in my opinion, but comes with higher cost. As the manager, it is usually myself, as it is very hard to find people who are excellent and can work a “random” part-time schedule. We only allow returning clients or long term bookings “alone” in the location.
I act as my own location manager for my space.
There are times, however, when i can’t get out of work so I’ll ask a trusted neighbor or friend to watch the space while I’m away. I’ll pay them a small fee in exchange for their time (based on # of hours).
I try to stay on site for film shoots in case they need any support.
Peerspace does a great job with allowing the hosts to report any changes or damages post production. We are normally in and out during the production and allow the production a lot of freedom to work independently as we have heard them complain of homeowners staying around for the whole production and getting in the way. A very thorough explanation of house rules prior and thorough walk through at the end is critical.
I act as the on-site rep in the rare case that a crew needs someone on deck to aid with any issues. I typically stay in the area, however, and am “on-call” if the crew needs me for anything. It is all included in the price of booking.
I have a site-rep on for all of my events, including shoots. They are never in the actual space during the event/shoot, but are on call in the building to handle any issues that might happen or any questions. I include it in the price and pay the site-rep myself. I find having a site-rep to be an essential part of my bookings for both me and the guest… it allows the guest to know someone is there for them but since he is not at the event/shoot they feel like the space is theirs… and it allows me to have peace of mind knowing the space is being watched over. I always feel good about paying the site-rep.
Typically we always have someone there to let them in/out. Our space has some closed off sections and we usually ask the guest to knock on the adjoining door if they need any assistance that way we’re out of the way but there if they need us.
We do provide on site rep for productions. On site rep checks them in and out, helps them load in and out and helps the client with any special needs. Included in booking price.
We let client choose if they want an onsite rep when it comes to offsite meetings. If they want privacy, onsite rep checks them in and out and helps them set up all the tech, but leaves the space during the actual booking. Included in booking price.
For events, we ask the client o hire one of our events administrators. Mandatory. Paid separately by the client.
If its a small shoot usually just check them in and have them text me if they need something. Big shoot i ask them to pay for my guy to be there
We provide on and it’s free. Included in the rental.
Since I rent my home, I am always on site. I don’t charge extra. I don’t tend to have bigger shoots and so far, the guests have been happy to have me around, or at least that’s what they say in their reviews (knock on wood). Often have a question or they need something or another and I am happy to provide it.
