What do I do when someone is going over their time?

Hi! I’m new to peerspace and have my very first event booked today. It is now 30 minutes past the time that was booked and the person is still in the space meeting with her clients. Is there an understood policy with peerspace that folk get charged for overtime? Is there a way that I can add to the booking fee in these instances? She booked for 2 hours and we’re now at 2.5 and I see no signs of her budging (on cameras)

Hello,

Welcome! You will receive an email from Peerspace when the booking is complete and it will have area to click for you to leave a review, charge for Overtime and for additional charges. Just click on the overtime and you charge the guest there. It will update the booking. Since you have cameras take a timestamped screenshot of when they leave in case they claim they left on time.

Good Luck!

I generally speak to the guest around half an hour before the end time and ask whether they think that they will be done by xxxo’clock. I then let them know that over time (in my case) will be charged at x1.5 When the finishing hour rolls around I remind them that they are going into overtime. Usually I give them 15 minutes grace. I feel more comfortable dealing with it at the time than simply charging them after the fact.

Usually I see them across the room, and I tap my imaginary watch on my wrist and look at them quizzically.

they understand, every single time. I then mosey over to them and ask how much overtime they would like.

Yvonne – you nailed it… I follow precisely the same schedule (although I don’t charge 1.5 for overtime… that’s actually a fine and fair idea)…
Just as Yvonne said, about 20 minutes before the designated exit time, I remind them that they need to have everything cleaned and returned as they found it when they exit… then offer an extra hour at the same cost as they’ve paid… I also allow flexibility if they’re 15-20 minutes late, without an additional charge.

Thank you guys so much for your replies. This is all very helpful!

I have found this not to work for me! I have clicked the button for a patron to be charged overtime and Peerspace unfortunately, does not deliver like they say. I really really really need this feature to work for my dance space and where people frequently go over time! Any suggestions? I’ve had to physically go on site and usher people off the premises as an alternative, which I rather not do.

If you have cameras take a screenshot with the time stamp on it. Then send an email to Peerspace directly letting them know you are having issues charging the overtime. In the subject line give the name of the guest, time and date so they know which booking it is. Peerspace can manually charge the overtime if you provide the documentation. Make sure to attache the documentation/screenshot.

Also take a screen recording of what is happening when you try to charge the overtime so they can see what is actually happening on your end.

Good Luck!

Are you clicking the overtime email on your phone or via computer? Sometimes I find opening it on my phone doesn’t work but opening it on my computer does.
