I have had several guests who prefer Peerspace, but booked on another site because they found it easier to search for what they wanted. They couldn’t find me on Peerspace & didn’t even know I posted here. If Peerspace could improve the search options I’m sure they would get more business. It would help the host, help Peerspace, everybody wins !!!
Like what? Perhaps a “Yvonne’s Listings Only” button?

I’d like one of those for myself.
Geoffrey: That’s unkind and not what I meant. Just whatever you have to offer that people might search for–color scheme, rooftop, style, garden, equipment for rent on premises, etc.
I hear you. It’s quite hard to find my space and I had someone find me on a site that I forgot I was on! We both were not familiar with the inner workings of another competitor. Turns out the guy was on Peerspace so I told him the town to look for on Peerspace and he found me. Peerspace would get a lot more business if they improved their search. People from NYC pretty much find me only if looking via the map feature but they have to know where to look, most don’t know there’s actually the outdoors near NYC and bypass me and look at Pennsylvania.
@Yvonne_E Great post and discussion. I can definitely attest to the fact that guests are using our filters when searching for their next location. When you have a moment, feel free to go onto our website and check out all of the filters guests can use. We even have specific filters like
‘piano’ if a guest might need that during a shoot. Let me know what you all think about the search options after tinkering with them!
Zoe: Thank you. I tried to find them before and failed. Where/how do I find them?
P.S. I mean how do I find them to edit my posting?
Zoe: I just looked through Peerspace. From the home page, if I were a guest, I cannot see where I would filter it. I only see the search, but it just asks for a date and what I want to shoot. It might be there, but it should be easier to find from the outset. This could be why guests have told me it’s not easy to search.
As a host, I cannot find where to add filters. Please educate me.
Thank you.
There are no filtering options on the homepage because there is nothing to filter until after you search. That’s why the button is at the top of the search results page named “More Filters”.
Airbnb, VRBO, and most (all?) other sites that offer spaces in the way that Peerspace does offers a quick general search from the homepage. Then, you can filter/sort and refine the results from there. Standard stuff.
Your scenario of someone coming to the site looking for a specific venue is not the primary goal of most people visiting the homepage. Most people are starting at the highest level and simply trying to find what’s available in their target city. From the search results page they start making decision and use the filtering options to refine the results.
Hi @Yvonne_E. Our handy Support Center has a lot of great content that can help you finer details of hosting, including how to edit your listings. Note that the information you provide in your listing description, amenities, even your photos, all helps our platform automatically identify details about your space that our search features use to surface your listings. For example, if your space has a pool as an amenity, our search may include your listing when a guest filters for spaces with pools.
Here is a specific article on how to edit your listings along with a video tutorial.
Hope this is helpful!
Thank you Matthew, however, I believe @Yvonne_E is asking where specifically she has to edit in her listing in order for those key words to definitely come up in the filtered search. I understand all of the items you mentioned “help” the platform, but how can we update the listing most efficiently to ensure those key words show up in the filtered search? Thank you Kindly, Alex
Thank you Alex. That’s exactly what I was asking. Nice to be understood.
My Pleasure @Yvonne_E! Hopefully we will hear back soon
@Alex_S1 thanks, I understood the question but the short answer is our system does not allow you to input your own keywords that map directly to the filters a guest would use. Our platform has to account for all the contents of your listing as well as the way a host performed against those searches in order to optimize the way guests find you in search.
Similarly to Google, our search prevents keyword stuffing so that a competing host couldn’t add all their own filters even for things about their space that they do not accurately represent. Instead, we look at details including your listing photos, amenities, description, FAQs, your space type, your rules, etc. to have the appropriate filters tagged for search. Remember you may be tagged for specific filters but your listing visibility will depend on factors like responsiveness, conversion rate, ratings, etc.
That said, we are always working on improving listing functionality and have a team adding more ways for you to be found in the future. In the meantime, I encourage you to regularly review your listing content to ensure it best fits the things you’d like to be found for and compare your listings against other spaces that you find when you search. Hope that helps.
Thanks Matthew. That does help.
Yvonne
A bit late to this thread, but I am in the near suburbs and no one can find me. I think the way the search is set up is crazy. Instead of keywords, users are directed to choose Chicago, and will only find our listing if they have the map open and are using that to search or ask for listings in my specific town. FYI I have reached out to PS months ago and and here is the convo
Hi--------
I am a little frustrated.
My space is located in -----and is just about 20 minutes north of downtown Chicago, so a great location.
It appears that because my home has a ---- address, no one can find my home unless they actually enter “----” into their search box.
It is unlikely that anyone would do that unless they already know about me.
Guests that wish to book are not finding my space.
Is Peerspace exclusive to Chicago spaces, or is there a Chicago area search?
I have spent a lot of time on this listing and if people don’t find my space when they search (ie: garden party), it will have been wasted.
I am happy to market on my end, but I need to know that my space will appear in organic searches when guests come to PS looking for event spaces.
Do you have any work-arounds for this problem?

Hi ---- and ------
Thanks for reaching out. My name is ------ and I’m an Ops Manager at Peerspace.
Our search is powered by the Google Maps API. Your listings are currently outside the Google Maps viewport for a generic Chicago search due to being located in -------. We cannot manipulate the listing data that is populated by Google. The majority of users toggle the map and are looking for a location in a specific area.
I understand your concern about being in the suburbs, but at this time we cannot override how a listing populates in search from Google Maps.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Peerspace Community… does this sound right?
Let’s be honest… no one toggles the map!
They put in keywords like Loft or Firepit or Dance Floor. The search is terrible and I have recieved lots of bookings from other sites and only a small handful of inquiries from PeerSpace. Any Suggestions?
Yes, Peerspace doesn’t seem to understand that people in production may want to have a production in real life ( not on a set). I’m 30 miles from NYC and a perfect distance for those looking for an outdoors space ( woods, wilderness, forest etc). If the user doesn’t type in certain keywords they will never find me. People have used the map feature and search thru it to find a woodsy location. It’s only in peer space’s interest to improve the search function. I’ve brought it up and they haven’t done anything about it. Oh well.
Who and how should we approach this. An individual email doesn’t seem to get any satisfaction.
Its been asked again and again, I guess they make enough money that they don’t seem to care about the missed opportunities.
