Did you know the search is not only totally broken but Peerspace is inserting preferred listings on the top row even though they don’t match the search criteria of the prospect?
For example, if you search for “pool” I see that only half the listings actually have a pool. I also see that the top three listings are actually very successful staged lofts for rent. You can’t have a pool in a loft.
Has anyone else discovered this? I feel like this is severely limiting my exposure on the platform as Peerspace inserts listings that THEY prefer to show vs what the client is actually looking for.
I remember new YouTube creators being upset a few years back as the algo optimized for creators who already had a following. The rich get richer.
I reached out to Peerspace and they were friendly but I’m not seeing any results.
Here’s a video if you want to clearly see the issue.
I would be interested in hearing thoughts from the community.
The search engine is more of a “suggestion engine”. It’s always been that way as far as I can tell (been on here for 4+ years).
I honestly have no idea how people find me on the site. The last time I complained about it, the person monitoring the forums told me that everyone sees results differently based on a variety of factors. Basically a non-answer.
Before owning a studio space, I worked for 20 years as a User Experience professional at large ad agencies in NYC. I’ve designed the use cases and search logic for sites similar to Peerspace. I took her answer to mean that the search is working the way THEY want it to and they’re ok with that.
Very thorough video and I asked Peerspace the same question. I was told many variables play into this, including key words and user experience. I only saw one example of key words placing an irrelevant property in my niche. And like you, I noticed other irrelevant properties placed higher in the algo than relevant properties that one would be searching for.
I agree, it’s a thing that needs to be addressed better.
Peerspace did provide links and info on how to have a stronger showing - which you can likely find in their FAQ info pages. It’s worth reviewing.
I would say keep iterating on your listing: text, headlines, keywords, photos etc. and refresh where necessary.
Pay close attention to photos, keywords and obtaining reviews. Use pull quotes from satisfied renters and include with your description. Consider marketing on socials as well to build a following and retain repeat customers (if you’re not already) and tag Peerspace.
Lastly, list your space on multiple sites for a better chance of increased rentals.
Wishing you all the best and lots of future bookings!
Hi There @Brissa_Page_M I just wanted to jump in and provide clarification! We are aware of the issue with the pool filter and are currently working on a solution that will improve the accuracy of our filter options.
