Hello I have just created my listing and have booked my first two hour booking. However the person does not have previous reviews and shows profile was created this February. Only email is verified. I’m new here as well with no past reviews of my place but I am asking if I can trust someone with very little info about them. What are your recommendations to fully vet someone when the booking has been approved?
Any help from experienced hosts greatly appreciated!
Hi,
In that case I google the person and I ask them if they have a website. I try to gather all of the info that I can. Also go with your gut.
Best wishes,
Joanna

Lots of guests are first timers. I do not have instant booking so I always speak to them on the phone prior to taking their booking to get a feeling for them.

I ask for their name and any reviews they can offer ( some are established on other sites). If they don’t have any, I ask for something online that identifies them. I also ask for outline of production and names of those coming to the property. If they aren’t legit they never respond past that. Like the others say, go with your gut feeling. I always give people a chance so I respond to them and the suspicious ones don’t even respond with any info. The scammers/flighty ones almost never book elsewhere on the platform ( only one I have seen book on this platform). This platform is open to “bad people” but if you ask questions, they move on to someone who just rents to anyone.

There are scammers everywhere nowadays. Especially electronic skullduggery. Always go with your gut and never be to anxious or desperate. From the mouth of a NEWBIE!
