Ops Director for Graham’s listings here, curious, given the early-season storm here in Los Angeles, and the research I’ve done on liability for slip and falls (we have laminate floors, so higher risk when wet), what are the processes and experiences of other hosts to mitigate slipping and liability?
Put a sign up. We get a fine dust on our floors in a garage area on tiles. It is slick, we put signs up letting people know they are slippery. My sign says “Caution floors are slippery”. because most signs just talked about being wet. If you don’t see a sign for sale that fits, make one, I had to. Our sign continues to get taken down, and even tucked out of sight. This is commonly done by the art department. I think it is also common to ignore danger signs. I have done my part by putting up the signs. Sometimes though the crew allows me to say words to part or the complete group in the safety meetings. At that point I can warn about slippery floors. I do not always get to speak and sometimes they start without me. Telling them, if I can is an extra thing I try to do, when I am able. You by asking this question on a public forum are stating your concern for their safety in some ways. That can be considered if Liability for a accident happens. I have found my signs in the trash, and piled under other things numerous times, this is frustrating but understandable also. Yellow is sometimes an unwanted color and may be unwanted in a scene. It is good you have done research.
