I hope that you are doing well. Thanks for checking out this post.
Is Peerspace doing enough marketing? Should they be trying harder to get the word out about this site? It appears that they are only marketing organically using word of mouth and relying on hosts to get the word out.
Before anyone accuses me of being salty, I’m running a successful site on this app. Although, I am curious exactly what Peerspace is doing in the way of marketing,
I am interested to hear the thoughts of others. Please let me know.
I see ads a lot on Instagram for Peerspace content. Mostly National studios not in my market specifically. But what ever gets a click works for me as long as they visit my town and click on my profile
Visible advertising is only one aspect to marketing. SEO, Google Ads, etc are probably money better spent by PS. You wouldn’t see that unless you were searching for a location.
PS does not have an Airbnb sized advertising budget for TV and ad pre-roll campaigns.
In my opinion more Peerspace advertising business to business would be great. Sometimes I try to think how to grow my business but my hands are sort of tied. I book mostly with video media producers and they all seem fairly new to Peerspace. That being said, I receive many more inquiries / bookings on PS than any other platform…
The real answer is: while we expend a lot of resources marketing your spaces, there is much more to do !
Fortunately, most hosts I talk to share @Laura_Z1 's sentiment: that they receive many more inquiries / bookings on Peerspace than anywhere else.
And there is good reason for that. Here are a few things we do today:
We spend millions of $ per year on advertising. We are constantly iterating and expanding on this program.
We have an extensive organic presence driven by our investments over the years in SEO and blog article creation.
We engage the broader creative community every day on social media and with brand initiatives such as #madeinpeerspace.
We make it easy for users to share Peerspace through referral programs, boards and other features online and in our app.
We highlight good hosts in search so that bookings go smoothly which leads to positive word-of-mouth.
Despite all that, we feel like we have barely scratched the surface.
We have an amazing service anchored by great hosts and unique spaces. We want the world to know about it. As a result, emerging from COVID, we have increased our marketing budgets and are growing our marketing team. We are busy testing many new marketing tactics as well.
Eric thank you for taking the time to respond to this question that many of us have had. In the years past, Peerspace was definitely hands down our greatest producer, however, for us personally, that is no longer the case. I was a Power Host for a very long time, lost our status due to Covid, and even tried to request an extension from your customer service as I believed that to be a valuable status for our listing. Now, all of a sudden, I saw that our booking requests dropped dramatically, and I do not know if that is related or not, but definitely am curious as to when you say “Good Hosts” are highlighted, if this is what you are referring too. I am very grateful for your services and your time in advance. Thank you Kindly, Alex
@Alex_S1 - I can’t speak to your specific situation without looking into it in greater detail.
In general, our search algorithm is intended to prioritize the listings that will be lead to a successful experience for the guest. This is multi-faceted and includes, amongst other things, host performance (along a number of dimensions), listing performance (along a number of dimensions) and suitability for the search query entered by the guest.
When I say “Good hosts” I don’t mean just PowerHosts. We have a lot of great hosts on the platform who simply don’t have the PowerHost designation right now for one reason or another.
@Eric Thank you very much for your response. Is there is a way that we can know when or if our listing is Highlighted? Many of us worked very hard to earn and maintain the Power Host Status, and although some of us lost our status due to the Pandemic, we are still working hard to be a good host as you mentioned. I believe if such a feature does not exist, it would bring great value to all hosts. Lastly, I know you are extremely busy, but if someone could contact me regarding my Power Host Status, I would like to discuss this issue further without bothering other hosts on this thread. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to us and Best Wishes, Alex
