Help a Newbie..Religous retreat?

I am new to this community. I have had a couple of production shoots that were both excellent experiences. I received a request to host a religious retreat. I feel hesitant to accept as this is a property I live in. Does anyone have any experience with this type of event and what questions should I be asking? Thank you for the support!

I’m confused by this question. Is the religion vastly different than your beliefs? If you are set up to do production, a “retreat” isn’t an option. Using a property for a gathering is very different and the reason why I do not allow anything except for productions.

thank you for the feedback. I have no issues with religion, I just havent experienced an event such as this and wondered if anyone had. Looking to see what questions should be asked etc.

Religious retreats are normally pretty calm events. I guess you should ask how many people will be attending and see if that’s a number that you will feel comfortable with.

I agree with James–it should be a pretty calm event. I would ask about how many people will be attending and how they will be using the space, but it sounds like the kind of event I’d be happy to host if everything checks out.

Besides asking how dynamic/loud they plan to be, should be all good

I’ve hosted several spiritual minded events including yoga, meditation, and energy healing. They all went really well. I would just ask for details about the services, including any music, singing, chanting, etc. that’s planned just so you know what to expect.

thank you so much for this!

Thank you so much. Appreciate it

Thank you so much for this!

Thank you very much!

It’s worth getting more information. Will all attendees be there for the whole period? Is it primarily meetings and discussions?

I recently hosted what was described as a “spa day” for the girls by a client who set up a massage table. I noticed via my front camera that people were coming in on an almost hourly basis and then leaving. It seemed to suggest they were using the space to run a business although I couldn’t prove anything and the person who booked it denied it.

I have a conference room space/ meeting room that we book out and we had a religious group that booked for a regional retreat/meeting, they were all from out of town. I was not prepared for them to basically have a full church service during their meetings with really loud singing. Our location is primarily set up for business meetings and related activities, it was not the ideal location for their meeting. So while they were a great group I would not rebook to them. I know they were just as uncomfortable as the rest of our customers around during their retreat. I would suggest asking questions as to the format or agenda of their retreat to see if your space is truly a match for them. I’m wondering if it may be the same group they were booked for 3 days in November last year.

Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
