I’ve seen a few other posts like this with no proper answers.
Why is it that guests are able to book for less time than the stated minimum hours? I have a 2hr minimum but we get a bunch of instant bookings for 1hr! At the moment we’re very new to Peerspace so aren’t declining bookings but is the only way to avoid this in the future is to just decline those bookings and message the guests saying why?
Surely there’s a more convenient, professional way to handle this on-going issue?
@Smac_M Do you have a minimum hours on your request?
You can cancel the booking and state the reason for doing is due to the guest booking under your minimum hrs. You will not be penalized by peerspace.
You could also reach out to the guest and tell them that you would love to host them however your minimum booking hours are (whatever they are). Most times when I do this they agree to book the minimum hrs I have posted on my profile.
My minimum booking hrs are 4 hrs and I sometimes get requests for 2. I will sometimes ask the guest to book 3 hrs and again, most times they do.
- I also always remind a guest that the booking time includes unloading/setting up as well as breaking everything down and loading up. Otherwise they will arrive 1/2 hr to 45 mins early and take another 1/2 hr to 45 mins to breakdown and load up. That adds up to a lot of time they should be paying for.
Hope this helps!

yes, it’s 2hrs minimum! even today we had another few bookings requesting 1.5hrs.
ah okay, that’s what we’ve been doing and some guests have then declined. it seems so unprofessional that this is the only way around it! Like there should be a feature where booking less time then the minimum isn’t even allowed, to eliminate the unnecessary conversation. Imagine going to a store and buying a product but requesting to pay only 50% despite the price tag. makes no sense!
It used to be that a guest could not instant book if they tried to book under the minimum hrs - it appears to have changed without notice to the hosts. I disabled mine because of this. Hosts also used to get a notice if a (non instant) booking request was under the minimum hours - not sure if that is in place anymore.

@Smac_M In the intial email let them know to keep the rate that low they need 2 hours, if they want 1.5 hours provide a rate a little*** higher. Be fair with the guests, they are on tight budgets that is why are they doing this now.
Hi @Smac_M, @Skira_M, and others on this thread. Just to clarify, a guest can only instant book (have their booking instantly confirmed) if they meet your minimum hours. If a guest wishes to book for fewer than your stated minimum hours it is a booking request which the host can either accept or decline. The guest receives a warning in the product that in order to instant book they must meet your minimum hours. Hope that clarifies how instant book works, but let me know if there are any other questions. Thanks, Rony
Thank you for responding/clarifying @Rony_C.

Tied in with this – I have a 2 hour minimum for weekdays, and a 4 hour minimum for weekends. Ideally there should be a way to set this up in Peerspace without doing the to-and-fro dance with several booking requests and counter offers.
We need to be able to separate weekday and weekend bookings, since I am sure for most of us, there is a difference in price, or a difference in minimum hours.
Hi @Neil_V , you are currently able to set different prices based on day of the week. Visit this support article for instructions on how to do so. Unfortunately you cannot set minimum hours by day of week but I will add that feedback to our list.
Thanks,
Rony
Responding here too since this thread is more recent – I keep getting requests to book that are less than my posted 6-hour minimum. Even though I don’t have Instant Book turned on, this still puts the onus on me to turn them down, and probably affects my rankings. Why doesn’t Peerspace inform the guest that their request doesn’t meet the minimum before they can send it?
