Decrease in inquiries

Hi Scott! I haven’t seen an events category for FB marketplace. I know how to list ads on FB marketplace and separately I know how to list events. If you you’ve seen the category for events please share. I would be interested in listing possibly.

Love reading everyones feedback and knowing it’s not just us! Also same for our space here in NYC. Since opening we used to consistently host 30-40 bookings a month from Peerspace alone. Last month we had 6 bookings. Our listing has over 320 five star review and we’ve maintained a power host status since 2020. @Nile_H your timeline matches our experience pretty much perfectly. Definitely feels like a combination of over saturated market + difficult financial times for creatives, but I also agree that the search algorithm seems to have gotten worse. As a user the first thing the site asks is “What are your planning” and no matter what I enter into the field, the same search results pop up. Why is it when I enter “podcast recording” (a search option that is already pre qualified in the search bar) I am served the same results as if I entered “Clothing Shoot”? I have to scroll past more than 40 listings before I find a space that is relevant to my initial search. It’s only when further filters are applied that you can start seeing results that feel relevant, but I feel like a lot of users are just entering that first field and scrolling though the initial search results (that should already be tailored to their initial search entry). The site makes it not so easy to find what you’re looking for. @peerspace-team how can we help improve this and make it easier for guests to find what they’re seeking from the very beginning? Why have a search bar that doesn’t actually refine search results? The only time it seems to change is when you’re clearly searching for something that is more event focused (ie baby shower) or a meeting. Beyond that it’s the same results every time no matter what you initially enter.

I’m in NYC too and I can concur that inquiries are way down. The ones that I am getting (2 yesterday) want the most absurd discounts. One wanted a 35% break and the other wanted approx 70% off!

I may work with the first just to keep things coming in, but I couldn’t hold back on the second and explained that her ask was ridiculous. Her response was along the lines of “Many other people have worked with us on pricing”. I suggested she contact one of them.

I am new – only gotten one booking – and only inquiry – feels like I am missing something here…

Same in Orange County, but I also run a commercial photography agency. Its a pretty normal ebb and flow for commercial photography productions to decrease in the Summer, I would assume its the same with hosting as people are on vacation. My guess is the end of August will pick up and really pick up as we get towards the new year/holiday cut off.

I recently joined about 6 weeks ago and not a single inquiry. Is there any way to see if at least people are viewing my profile? I’m just trying to figure out if this is now a dead site.

Hi Janae, I have been told directly by a Peerspace team member that the algorithm now factors in the conversion rate which I know it didn’t used to in the past. This feels very unfair as we have always had the freedom to decline bookings that we aren’t comfortable with or that don’t fit with our space without fear of being penalized. I personally often get inquires for bookings that want less than our minimum hours, discounts, parties, etc. and now I feel obligated to accept them otherwise I could lose future business. Perhaps you aren’t aware of the change, but it would be great if you helped us work toward changing it back to how it was. I have been a host on Peerspace for over six years with multiple spaces and many bookings, and now my bookings are decreasing because my placement in the search results is being lowered due to this new change.

Thanks Matthew. Perhaps I am just a conspiracy theorist, however, not even an hour after I posted this a few weeks ago I got a ‘real’ request for a full day rental from a ‘producer’ who had just signed up to the site and was asking me to break Peerspace rules. She said my place was perfect for her shoot coming up in August and she asked me how she could pay me in full to book the space that same day. An odd request to say the least. Especially when I haven’t seen any full day requests in a long time and this came about an hour after posting my critique. I certainly don’t know any producers willing to pay in full up front for a location that they have never scouted. I told her that if she wanted to book the space, send me an actual booking request through the website and I can accept and Peerspace will hold the money. I don’t see any payments until the rental is completed. I never heard back from her again. That request seemed a bit odd given the timing. Haven’t heard a peep from anyone else since that day either. Maybe no one is renting space anymore… who knows?

I bet that “producer” was going to send one of those cashier’s checks that bounce too late to catch it.

The silence is deafening in Brooklyn, NY. We have hosted no events in June/July - same time last year we had at least a dozen!

Ditto here in Atlanta. My bookings went down when the sute updates happened. New logo, new search tool, less inquiries. Are there any Peerspace commercials like Aurbnb has?

Hello, I am a newbie to peerspace. My lisiting has been approved on the platform for 1 month but I’ve had only 1 booking so far. What am I doing wrong? How do you see who is viewing your space to possibly invite them to book? *NEW* Unique Multi-Set Lifestyle & Creative Studio Warehouse-NW Houston, Houston, TX | Production | Peerspace

Yeah, I’m in LA and it’s totally dead right now.

I think it’s the economy?

I’m trying to wait it out.

I’m in the Cumming GA (Atlanta) area. I haven’t gotten any bookings but 1. It’s totally dead for me. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Candace!
From looking at your page my guess is that the photos are the problem. It’s hard for me to see the layout of the space since all of the images are close-ups.

If you update your photos so that they show more of the space I think you will start getting bookings. I know there are some online sites where you can hire a professional for around $200.

I recently updated my photos and I’ve been seeing more bookings come in. Here is my listing for reference: Colorfully Design Artistic Home | Perfect for Photoshoots, Austin, TX | Production | Peerspace

Best of luck!

We are Power Hosts who have a great loft space in Brooklyn that is typically very popular but we have seen a total fall off of booking requests in the last 6-8 weeks. We typically received 4-5 requests/inquiries per week but we have had absolutely no interest in the last few weeks. We know that the writers’ strike may be part of it since we rent to a lot of production companies, but typically small brands and small production companies still shoot nonscripted photo/video throughout. Are other hosts in NYC experiencing the same? Any idea what the issue might be?

Hi Gwendolyn, I rent out my daylight studio on Union Square and I have the same experience. I was doing quite okay but last month I only had 1 rental and no requests. I have no idea why.

Experiencing similar here in Atlanta

Same here- deafening silence with both inquiries and 1/4 volume y/o/y bookings. However, things just started to pick up a bit for July. I think it’s the economy in general. I’ve had same slowdown in my other businesses.

Same here
I have multiple spaces in NYC and June has been almost silent.
