Advise Desperately Needed

I was just surprised to see this 2 star review of my space: " Parts of this house were not furnished and did not match photos, other parts of the house were unusable because we were not allowed to open the blinds."

The first part is patently untrue. All of the house is furnished and my photographs are accurate. As to not opening the blinds, I do not have blinds, but I did stop them from opening curtains when the model was changing into her lingerie in front of a window which was right across from my neighbor’s window. It was only this one window that could not be opened, and I believe for a good reason. What’s more, it says they booked for 15 people, but there were only two. I have to think that somehow they got me confused with someone else. I have already written to Peerspace.

So here’s the advise I need. Should I also write to the renter and ask if he has me mixed up with another location or should I just leave that alone?

Have they written other reviews on other rentals? I always check those. Are they renting a lot? wait about writing the renter, most of the time they won’t answer. We had a renter complain we had no air conditioning in the garage over a year after she rented… people can be weird. Peerspace sometimes takes your rebuttal into consideration and removes the bad stars.

I actually did write to him because I was so certain that he had my property confused with someone else’s. It seems that around a month later when the model got the results she wasn’t happy. So my take is that instead of blaming his skills, he blamed the location.
anything he complained about could have easily be seen through his lens. But he stayed the full time, took his pictures, and complained much later. Now he says he’s going to dispute the charge through his credit card company. I did inform Peerspace of all.

Really makes me feel bad because I liked him at the time.

Don’t worry about it. There is no reason to respond to someone who writes a review like that. Don’t let yourself get pulled in to what is essentially a scam.

There is nothing he can do about the charges, Peerspace would be unlikely to refund him at this point and he won’t likely be able to “dispute the charges” with his card company.

Once in a while you get a bad review. If you have a ton of great reviews pretty much everyone will ignore the one bad review.

Thanks Christopher. It was just shocking because the things he said were so untrue. I actuually thought he had it mixed up with another location. Fortunately, Peerspace removed the review which I really appreciated although, as you say, it probably would not have made much difference since the things he wrote contradicted the other reviews.

P.S. After initially engaging, I did not contact him again although I had a lot to say in my brain. LOL.
