Hello!
What is the average discount rate offered by most hosts for 8+ hours? 10% or 15%?
We offer 10%. I just wish it was good enough for some people though. Someone today asked if we can give an all day rate of about a quarter of what we charge. I had to nicely turn her down.
You can’t blame people for asking
Why are you giving % off? Peerspace is already taking 15% of your fees. Why further discount that?
You’re throwing away money. Instead, offer things that do not take money directly out of your pocket. When people ask for a discount, I tell them the rates are the rates, but that I’ll give them something like in-house equipment for free. This is stuff I already own and that has been paid for many times over through rentals.
I also have a greenroom that’s normally $200 extra. Rather than offer 10% off a booking which might cost me around $240 for a full-day rental, I’ll very graciously give the room away for free “just this one time”. The guest feels like they’re getting a special deal and it doesn’t take any money out of my pocket since the room was just going to sit there empty anyway.
The only exception to this would be multi-day bookings. If people are booking more than 2 days I’ll sometimes extend a discount if they press me for one.
How does one apply a discount? I’m new to handling our PeerSpace account, just fumbling my way through. Have done a couple of bookings with no issue, but want to offer a client a 10% discount as they are booking many more hours than originally thought. But I don’t know where/how to do this. Would appreciate any tips.
Hi @Louise_P , if the guest has already inquired / sent a request the easiest thing to do will be to click “create custom offer”. From here you can create a new subtotal for their booking which will then be sent to the guest for their approval.
In the future, here are the instructions on how to set the 8 hour discount: What is an 8+ hour discount? – Support Center

Thanks, Rony. I suspected that might be the case, but wasn’t sure.
Best,
Joanne (haven’t figured out how to change from Louise’s name yet)
