Reconsider changing dates

Client booked a saturday and sent a message to change the day the day before, as a courtesy I accepted the change to 1 month out. They cancelled the booking within the hour so they do not have to pay any fees. Reached out to Peerspace about concern they are unable to help me as it was a valid cancel due to the updated booking.
Going forward I will charge a change fee
Thank you to the client that ruined it for the rest.

Hi,

Yes, we charge rescheduling fees now for the same exact reason which we started 3 to 4 months ago. At the moment we have not had anyone cancel after rescheduling since we implemented the rescheduling fee.

Happy Holidays!

That you for alerting us as to a potential scam. I guess it would also be good to look at what the change of day could do & then wait to change the date until I am in the clear.

Yup, they do this on other platforms, you’d think all these platforms would do something about it. They are out of money, along with us. These people ruin it for everyone else.

Sorry to hear that. We’ve had that attempt before, but we don’t allow re-scheduling almost at all - with very few exceptions - since we often have multiple requests for the same day it’s likely we’ve said “no” to another client and could have still had a booking.

There is essentially no value in letting someone rebook last second unless you are trying to keep a repeat client happy.

This is an old trick from the hotel business… book a date, change your mind, then call and bump it ahead to get out of the cancellation penalty zone, then cancel that one next. The fact that they did it only an hour later shows they are amateurs. We usually wait 2 weeks…hahahaha!) Good to know.

We have it in our description that we will only agree to a change no more than 3 weeks especially weekends since we are almost always fully booked on weekends. We also only allow one change so they can’t keep kicking the can down the road.

I just had a booking reschedule for 2 months later. I explained to them that I would be charging a reschedule fee and had them cancel their event. I then had them go back to my listing and click Message Host so that a new message thread would get started and I could send them a new booking offer. In this case they got 50% refunded for cancelling before 7 days, so for the new date I’m charging them the remaining 50% + my reschedule fee. It’s an annoying process to navigate through but it’s the only way to prevent them from being able to then cancel and get a full refund. The unfortunate consequence to doing it this way is the guest does not get any of their processing fee refunded when cancelling so I had to take the hit and reduce my rescheduling fee to make up for it. Hopefully Peerspace comes up with a way to make this smoother and more efficient.
