Holding Deposit

Hello, I am new to Peerspace and I have someone wanting to book but only wanting to pay a holding fee to reserve the time slot and not the full booking rental amount until the day of the event. Is there an option to do that in Peerspace? Or does it only charge the full booking fee?

Venue and especially location bookings are typically paid in full in advance. Someone asking to “reserve the time slot” does not sound serious about committing to your space. I would let them know that another guest is interested in that date but you are giving them the first right to make the booking.

In a couple of cases where someone wanted to book the venue months in advance and asked about a “deposit”, I said we could book half the booking period now, then add the additional time and collect the balance closer to the event.

I believe that i read that peerspace prohibits the host from collecting deposits, which I’ve never understood. I do event bookings which can get petty expensive, and nasty times are booked WELL in advance, from wedding/ receptions etc., while people are planning huge events like this, they don’t necessarily want to spend a thousand dollars, 6 months in advance, so on other platforms I’ve been able to ask for deposit, and i make it non refundable, to weed out those who aren’t serious about booking, and then book them on the site for the remaining balance 3 days before their event. Haven’t had a problem with it at all, and hoping peerspace considers lifting their ban on taking deposits.
