Peerspace is charging both the host and the guest fees? Should we be getting a high payout? Is it ok to charge both of us fees?
Nearly all marketplace platforms take fees from both buyers and sellers given it basically has two customers. The sellers (hosts) utilize the platform for an online presence, marketplace exposure, marketing, community, payments, and protection. Buyers utilize the platform itself because of its ease of use, reach, its curation, and buyer protection. Continually improving the platform, marketing it, and supporting both buyers and sellers is a resource heavy and costly undertaking. It’s also got to be a profitable one so they can hopefully continue to be successful and grow their reach. It’s good for all of us and their % rates based on the total fees seem reasonable. Speaking from my experience selling all kinds of things online for 25+ years.
