Thoughts on promoting your space w/o social media?

I’ve hosted bookings on this site since 2015. Our space is our unique home and we’re about 45 minutes north of LA. We have done well over the years, but much better in the beginning when there wasn’t as much competition. Now everyone and their mother is on the site making searching for a space a bit tedious for guests and I’m sure our listing is pushed way back in the system.

My question is do you openly share your peerspace link on your social media platforms?
Personally, I don’t because I feel that most of my IG followers (42k) are lookie loo’s and pretty soon they become competition. The rare times I post about having a photo shoot/filming the DM’s come in about how they can get into it and want the business that I’ve built/contacts. Wondering how others handle promoting their space without creating that competition?

We absolutely use social media. We not only use our studio account (9k on IG) but the co-owners of the studio have about 800K combined on IG and 5.5 million combined on TikTok (verified). We post stories on all accounts regarding our studios.

Our newest Pink Studio actually gets more than 70% of its bookings from guests seeing our stories. I would not worry about who sees what you have to offer. I have even had a studio owner create a fake profile for his wife asking to scout one of my locations when I opened it. Of course I let him know I knew who he was and obviously no walkthrough was allowed. About 3 weeks later he opened a studio with a lot of similarities from what he saw on my listing and IG page but my studio is doing just fine.

Good Luck

Jennifer… we are about 45 seconds north of LA (Hollywood Hills above the strip actually) and we promote our site on all the usual social platforms (the big 3: FB, IG and TW). We never have any issues with it. We used to post our location but now its mostly our business (clients, shoots, etc.) We only post AFTER any embargo periods are over (right now we are holding pics of recent shoots with Halle Berry, Fred Armisten, Will (of Will & Grace) and others who have shot here but not yet aired on TV or film. (We once had to hold a CNN special on Late Night talk shows for TWO YEARS waiting for it to finally air!) We have so much action I have no problem with it. With ALL the new platforms out there (Hulu, Netflix, HBO Go! Apple TV, Amazon Prime, etc.) there is always another bus coming as they say… Here is our link to all our fun stuff: https://www.instagram.com/devlinhouse/ (Come follow and leave a note.)

Hi Tim , that’s so great to hear. If Fred Arminsen came to a shoot at our house I’d be thrilled, love him. I suppose what I’m realizing is my IG account is built around the remodel of our home and it’s unique curated interior to inspire others. I suppose our followers want to continue to “follow” along literally, inspired by our success as a location and do so for themselves. I need a different audience to promote this side of our business too, Thanks for helping me realize that!

Thank you Geo, some good advice here!
