I have a three day production coming up for a commercial (backyard only). I was asked if it would be possible to store things in my home before then, not sure how many days yet and how much space it would take up. It’s a $2,000 a day (12 hr days) payout. I was thinking $200 day, is that a fair rate?
Depending on how much stuff they’re leaving with you, that sounds reasonable to me.
Make sure your homeowner’s insurance covers the loss/damage of 3rd party property.
Also get a COI from the production
Just be careful and be clear how much is to be stored and where. Try and find out if it is product they are storing or what it is…how much of an inconvenience it will be for you, will they need access to it once it is at your property, will there be multiple trips to deliver the stored property to your house…depending on the answers to those questions would dictate how much I would charge. $200/day seems very fair to me if its a one time drop to the garage and they don’t show up again until the shoot and get an insurance cert naming you additionally insured and a hold harmless
Hi @Maria_B, one additional recommendation I would make is to obtain a release from them, so that they don’t hold you liable in case anything something gets damaged or they claim something is missing. Best Wishes, Alex
I would also think there is a lot of equipment it would be coming in a truck, trailer or pod. Having them leave a locked trailer in your driveway makes it a lot more safe and simple. Co-mingling personal property and production equipment can create issues. I have had to get my tools back from construction crews leaving in a hurry. Not having a dedicated room, garage or shed for this will give you much more aggravation in your personal space than one may think. I would think most would just be bringing a trailer to drop off that is secure.
