Film crew booked my loft, left it a disaster on their 1st day, broke my toilette, lied, etc

Hi!

I have been hosting on PeerSpace for 3 years now. In that time I have never, ever had any issues with any guests, and the guests have always followed my rules and have been beyond respectful.
I had a film booking this weekend. Because the PeerSpace app has had continual tech issues, (which I have spoken to PeerSpace about), I was unable to use the messaging on PeerSpace for most of your conversations.
The crew trashed my loft, left garbage everywhere, turned off my fridge and ruined all of my food, got food all over my furniture, left cans and glasses setting on my antique books, only to cause rings. And they broke my toilet. The dropped a hard object in my toilet, lied, and then it flooded my wood floor.
I was furious! I messaged them last night demanding them to come back and clean up the mess and fix the tiolet, They would not. They lied about breaking the toilet until I had to squeeze the truth out of them. I begged for them to come back last night to help me with the flood on my floor but they wouldn’t respond.

And then they act like they did nothing and wanted to come back today. I told them that they were not allowed back in my space after all of the damage they had done (which I photographed and videotaped). They continued to harass me all day that they needed to finish the scene. I was in no way letting these people back in my loft.
I also stressed to the booker many times that I was recovering from major surgery, so to please move things back for me because I could not do it. I had to physically drag all of their equipment in my hall at 4:00 this morning, as I had been up all night cleaning up their mess.

I called Peerspace and even emailed them, begging or help and explained that it was an emergency situation. I have received no help or guidance from them on this matter at all.
This crew got another person to let them in my building. One of the crew that accidentally took my air remote, just returned it outside my door, while pounding as hard as he could on my door for about 5 minutes, while yelling, “Thanks a lot, Karen.” Wow. My friend who is a CPD officer and detective was about to come over. He said they were most likely on drugs.

PeerSpace has not helped me. I am not returning their money for today’s booking… plus, they went 2 hours over the time last night. Additionally, they broke my toilet.

I have never in my experience of PeerSpace had to ever deal with anyone like this. I have only had incredibly wonderful experiences with every single one of my guests. I’ve also received nothing but glowing comments and 5 star reviews.

Any suggestions?
Thank you so much,
Susan

Sorry this happened to you. People suck. Especially film crew people.

Did you take a security deposit?

Do you have security cameras?

If not, there’s not a lot you can do. You can put in for the OT, but Peerspace will most likely not help you (even if you had camera footage) with the damages.

I might send them the photos and then tell them you’re filing a police report with the CPD. Have your friend give them a call. See if the fear of litigation changes their attitude.

Good luck

Sorry you had this experience Susan. Are you a power host? If so, there’s the phone line you can use to reach out to Peerspace in addition to emailing them. I’ve had a lot of success with Peerspace getting damaged items paid for. As Geoffrey asked, do you have security cameras? Did you take pictures? Before and after pictures are usually necessary but in some cases like a flooded floor I’m sure a legitimate case can be made that they caused the damages… especially since you got them to admit they broke the toilet (I’m hoping via text and not over the phone).
